Fiber and ADSL eligibility test – SFR, Internet eligibility test – ADSL test: which operator at me?

Test your Internet & NBSP eligibility

XDSL technology uses your telephone line. Almost 99% of the French population is covered by ADSL technology. With the exception of a few “white areas”, everyone has the possibility of having broadband access.

Eligibility test and access technologies

How to test your eligibility for fiber, THD, ADSL, or 4G box+ ?

woman and man

To test fiber eligibility, THD (FTTB / FTTLA network), ADSL / VDSL or 4G+ box of your line, it’s very simple:

With your address ::
Fill in your full address. If you live in a building, you must provide additional information to precisely identify the line: the building, the floor and the fiber socket number if you have one.

With your landline phone number ::
With the fixed accommodation phone number (starting with 01, 02, 03, 04 or 05).

After entering this information, the test result indicates the connection technology, as well as the maximum technical flow rate of which you can dispose. Once the eligibility of your determined line, the different SFR offers and internet boxes will be offered to you: access to Internet, fixed telephony and digital TV, or Internet + TV without TV.

Learn more about flows

The maximum flow of your line will depend:
Of your type of domicile: if you live in a single house or in a collective building
Of the installation area of your Internet network to find out if it is an unwinding network, in partial or total unbundling.
The type of connection used (copper, cable, fiber optic).

We distinguish :
The upright debit (upload) used when you send data to the network (e-mails, loading photos or videos, storage of heavy files, etc.)
The downhill debit (Download) corresponds to the download speed of the data flow that you receive from the Internet to navigate a site, watch a video or participate in a videoconference.

What differences between these access technologies ?

What differences between these access technologies?

Optical fiber to the FTTH home

Optical fiber to housing (Fiber to the Home) is the most recent and efficient technology, since it offers highest flows on the market, making it possible to respond to the simultaneity of uses in the home such as telework, video surveillance, consumption on streaming platforms and online games. Depending on your technical and geographic eligibility and the box held, it allows to reach up to 8 gigabits per second in downward speed and up. If your accommodation has not yet been connected, the intervention of a technician is necessary.

Optical fiber to the FTTH home

Fiber except home connection (fttb/fttla) also called THD

If the home connection is not in fiber optics but in coaxial cable, we then speak of FTTB (Fiber to the Building) or FFTLA (Fiber to the Last Amplifier). This is the television network using cable, modernized with fiber optics. It stops what ten meters from the building, the signal is then broadcast to the accommodation by the coaxial cable already present. This avoids carrying out installation work in your apartment if it is already connected to enjoy very high speed (THD).

DSL, ADSL or VDSL

XDSL technology uses your telephone line. Almost 99% of the French population is covered by ADSL technology. With the exception of a few “white areas”, everyone has the possibility of having broadband access.

In ADSL/VDSL (copper network), the flow of which you can benefit depends on the characteristics of your telephone line:
• The length of your telephone line: the distance between your home and the telephone central. The higher the length, the higher the flow rate is high.
• The quality of your telephone line: quality of the copper cable, cable diameter, existence of parasitic signals.

I did the eligibility test, and the offers that are offered to me concern only the ADSL / VDSL offers ?

If there are only the ADSL / VDSL offers that are offered to you, this means that fiber optic does not yet cover your residence area.

Soon eligible for fiber ?

SFR warns you of the evolution of the deployment of the fiber optic network by an eligibility return message. This may concern the network available in your city, in your neighborhood or on your street. This information allows you to know when your home can benefit from fiber optic offers.

I have no telephone line, can I subscribe to an adsl box offer, very high speed or sfr fiber ?

Of course ! If you have a line without subscription, in most cases, you can subscribe directly to an ADSL box offer, very high speed or SFR fiber. To do this, you must use the phone number of the former telephone line holder, or the temporary telephone number issued by the Express Connection Service (REX). To obtain a temporary phone number with the express connection service (REX), simply connect a landline phone to the wall telephone socket and compose any 10 -digit phone number. A voice server will then communicate the temporary telephone number (without the “0” figure at the start). To register, test your eligibility by entering the choice the phone number of the old telephone line or the temporary number provided by Rex (by adding the “0” in front of the REX number). If your accommodation does not yet have a telephone line, SFR takes care of the installation. In this case, our advisers are at your disposal.

I have to terminate my fixed telephony subscription to the historic operator ?

No, if you have a subscription for a conventional telephone line, you must not directly terminate your subscription to the historic operator. This termination process will prevent the commissioning of your SFR telephone line. We will contact the historic operator directly to request the termination of your line.Once your SFR BOX telephone line is activated, you will receive a final invoice from the historic operator reimbursing you the subscription, with the latter, invoiced in advance (Prorata from the previous bimester) and invoicing the communications issued from the last invoice. From then on you can benefit from Internet and telephony services SFR and will no longer depend on your former operator.

I am not eligible for fiber optics or THD, and my adsl speed seems weak, what to do ?

If you are not eligible for optical fiber or very high speed, SFR can offer you a solution. Indeed, there is an alternative allowing you to access a broadband internet connection. First, you can check the speed of your current flow with the Debit test. If your flow is less than 10 megabits/second, you may benefit from the SFR Box 4G offer+. In which case, we still invite you to perform the eligibility test to confirm that this offer is available for your home.

What is the internet eligibility test for ?

Before comparing the different offers of Internet boxes, you must know the boxes to which you can claim. In other words, it is essential to know your Internet eligibility, both in terms of operators and of the different technologies offered.

To do this, go to the top of this article and make a eligibility test. Concretely, you just need to enter your address and click on “test”.

Following this, it will be specified to you:

  • If your accommodation is Adsl eligibile.
  • If it is eligible for SFR and Bouygues fiber.

How our ADSL test works ?

OUR Internet eligibility test is actually essentially a ADSL test. Indeed it allows us to determine which operators you are eligibile in ADSL. On the other hand, with regard to fiber, it currently measures only your eligibility for the SFR network (and RED) and the Bouygues network.

If you want to go further and know your fiber eligibility on all operators’ networks, you can call us free on 01 86 26 53 94

Other information that will be provided to you by our eligibility test: the Internet speed to which you can claim.

Does the Internet eligibility test allow you to choose its technology ?

Currently, 2 technologies dominate the market: the ADSL, relatively old, and the fiber, which is more recent and which tends to supplant the ADSL. Note that what is called “VDSL” is an improvement in the ADSL, which is not always available because it requires specific specific lineistic.

It should be understood that if an operator has deployed the fiber at home, you will not be able to take out an ADSL offer at this operator, but will have to orient yourself towards fiber.

THE Internet eligibility test So do not always allow you to “choose” between a fiber and ADSL subscription. This scenario is only possible if one or more operators offer fiber at home, and other operators only offer ADSL to your address. In this case, indeed, it is the choice of the operator that will detect the technology from which you will benefit.

Eligibility test: the case of optical fiber

In the process of becoming the technology mainly installed in France, it allows you to have a quick and more efficient connection rate. To date, we distinguish two types of fiber connection:

  • FTTH (Fiber to the Home): which means that the entire connection is made in optical fiber. In fact, the fiber is deployed until you take your home.
  • FTTLA (Fiber to the Last amplifier): this means that the connection will be done up to an amplifier. The latter is generally found in the cellar of a building or in the street. It is then a case and, it is from the latter that the connection cables will leave to the wall outlet, at home. This last connection distance is therefore made of coaxial. The FTTLA is only offered by SFR and Red

Logically, FTTH’s flows are more efficient and more stable than those of the FTTLA, although it is already much higher than the connection by ADSL.

Eligibility test: the case of ADSL and VDSL

ADSL is the acronym of “Asymmetric Digital Surcord Line” or in French, asymmetrical digital subscriber line. This technology is based on the telephone copper network, the conventional lines. Its main defect remains the flow.

Widely limited compared to that proposed by fiber, it is often capped at 20 Mbits/s, and this in theory. The connection via ADSL uses a frequency band above that of the phone. This allows the transmission of digital data independent of the conventional telephone service, known as analog.

In ADSL as in VDSL, the support is therefore the classic telephone line, so do not hesitate to make a ADSL test on the latter, which you can find at the top of this article.
