Cityyscoot launches a subscription to the month in Paris
There does not seem to be a single winner in this comparison and you will have to consider your needs and your uses to find the service that will meet them most. If the price is the most important criterion, Yego is by far the most interesting, at least for occasional journeys. On the other hand, Cooltra is distinguished thanks to his pass unlimited that are practical for a weekend for example.
Electric self-service scooters: price, advantages, disadvantages … Our ultimate comparison
Move in Paris can quickly become a puzzle: transport constraints, bad weather, traffic, etc. Electric self-service scooters are a booming solution, with three main players in the capital. We have tried them and compared for you.
To move around in Paris, there is embarrassment of choice regarding the mode of transport to be used: mechanical bike or electric bike, electric scooter, public transport, car, walking, etc. Everyone offers of course advantages and disadvantages, which also depend on the needs of each. For some time, electric scooters seem to win the hearts of Parisians, because they allow in particular to bypass dense circulation while offering the freedom to move without constraint, alone or in two, and even to transport a few races with you.
Since September 1, the parking of thermal scooters has become paid in the capital, which could always push more users to turn to electric.
Unfortunately, one of the main obstacles to the purchase of an electric scooter is the price, not only that for acquisition, but also insurance and maintenance, which may seem too high for occasional journeys. This is the whole advantage of shared scooters: they are easy to find, can be used for a simple one and do not require a subscription.
Their main highlight is based on the fact that they are equivalent to 50 cc and restrained at around 45 km/h, which allows them to drive without having a license – only the BSR is enough. No need to have a helmet either, since one or two helmets are provided with the scooter, accompanied by Charlottes for hygiene reasons. It will only have your own gloves, which are compulsory, but too complex to provide by default, because sizes differ from one user to another, not to mention the fact that they could be very easily stolen.
Today there are three main players offering shared scooters in Paris and in the suburbs, which we have tested and compared for you. Find out which one is the most suitable, according to your needs and your uses. Keep in mind, however, that some of the services mentioned in this comparison are available in other cities and that the information and prices listed below are valid for Paris.
Cityscoot, the easiest to find
With the late blow, Cityyscoot was one of the first operators to deploy a fleet of large -scale shared electric scooters in the capital. We can therefore think that the company offers a higher service compared to competitors, arrived more recently in Paris. Indeed, although some rivals are more interesting on certain points, Cityscoot has the advantage of offering more than 4,000 scooters in Paris, in addition to those based in Nice, Bordeaux, Milan and Barcelona. This allows in particular to be able to use the same account when traveling. Practical.
As for the price, it will cost you 0.39 euros per minute, but you can save some savings thanks to the packs: depending on the prepaid minutes, prices drop to 0.34, 0.32 or 0.28 euros for Purchase of 50, 100 or 250 minutes. A Cityyoung offer drops the price at 0.24 euros for 50 minutes.
Good news: their validity duration is now 365 days, against periods oscillating between 2 weeks and a month and a half before. A loyalty program will also allow you to accumulate offices offered, namely 30, 60 or 130 minutes free respectively for 300, 500, or 1,000 minutes rolled.
On a practical level, all the CitySscoots are equipped with a skirt, which also has a pocket to house your smartphone, in theory very useful to find you. Unfortunately, in use, it too often happens that these are torn or impossible to close, making navigation much more complex-unless you want to see your phone immerse your head first on bitumen during your trip.
In addition, a helmet is systematically provided under the saddle and certain scooters include a top case, lodging a second helmet and thus simplifying travel to two. In addition, all the CitySscoots have a hook, making it possible to transport a bag between your legs – be careful not to forget it inadverters at the end of your journey, because your property is covered by the skirt. Finally, the Cityscoots are relatively high: they are pleasant to drive and provide a feeling of safety superior to what competition offers.
As for the unlocking of a two-wheeler, Cityscoot opts for a code to enter the keyboard located on the scooter handlebars. This method is particularly appreciable, because it allows you to do without your smartphone to start or finish a journey, very practical in the event of a low battery. The application also makes it possible to quickly and simply visualize the nearby scooters, the remaining autonomy and the number of helmets provided.
On a daily basis, Cityyscoot is very practical, because it is very easy to find a. The coverage area is also quite large, since it covers all of the Parisian districts, as well as several cities near suburbs, such as Clichy, Neuilly-sur-Seine, Levallois, Boulogne-Billancourt, Issy-les-Moulineaux and Montrouge , but also certain districts of Sèvres, Meudon, Ivry-sur-Seine, Saint-Mandé and Charenton-le-Pont.
On the other hand, it happens too frequently that some two-wheelers of the fleet are damaged, especially in the smartphone cover as mentioned above. Worse still, we have met scooters with mirrors not holding in place or even broken handles. Finally, it is not uncommon to have difficulty ending a race – the fault of a technical problem – thus obliging you to contact customer service to close it.
- Price: 0.39 euros per minute without a prepaid pack, from 0.28 euros per minute with a 250 -minute prepaid pack;
- Advantages: very easy to find in Paris, vast geographic coverage;
- Disadvantages: technical problems, smartphone support.
Cooltra, the challenger
Before deploying a fleet of two-wheelers in self-sharing, Cooltra specializes in the rental of day or monthly scooters, service that it continues to offer and which can be more interesting if you plan to move frequently Over a given period. It also offers the advantage of being present in Paris, Lisbon, Madrid, Valence, Barcelona, Milan and Rome, allowing the same application to be used in many cities.
Quite interestingly, Cooltra has deployed Govecs scooters, the same brand as those used by Cityyscoot, Madrid and Valence, but uses Askoll models in other cities, including Paris. Its two-wheelers will thus be easily identifiable in France, by their compact format which will allow you to sneak without incident.
In terms of price, Cooltra offers a basic rate of 0.36 euros per minute, as well as a wide choice of packs and pass : recharges of 10, 20, 50 and 90 euros allow you to obtain a bonus of 2, 5, 20, or 40 euros, respectively. This reduces the price per minute to 0.25 euros. Cooltra also offers pass Unlimited 8, 24 or 48 hours, billed 19, 29 and 39 euros. In order to optimize the distribution of scooters, Cooltra will also offer you a discount on the journey if you park your scooter in a “blue zone” at the end of your rental.
Scooters offer an unusual driving position, close to the ground, with relatively large wheels offering good stability. If you are two, you will appreciate the systematic presence of two helmets, including an L and an M. Some of them offer a very useful skirt in cold weather, although the majority of the fleet seem to be devoid. On the other hand, no phone medium is present, which is really unfortunate if you do not know your way.
The scooter unlocks from your smartphone, which prevents you from having to remember a code, but forces you to recharge it in advance in advance. If you have trouble locating your scooter, you can do it horn directly from the application to find it. Much less practical, you will have to take a photo of the scooter at the end of your trip, in order to be able to prove that it is in good condition and well parked. Finally, the area is currently limited to intramural Paris: you will have to go your way if you want to go to the suburbs.
- Price: 0.36 euros per minute without a prepaid pack, from 0.25 euros per minute with a prepaid pack of 90 euros;
- Advantages: wide choice of packs, double helmet;
- Disadvantages: no smartphone support, limited area in intramural Paris.
Yego, the cheapest
Yego scooters are also international, since they are found not only in Paris and Bordeaux, but also in four Spanish cities. Launched in June 2021, the service will have 1,500 two-wheelers by the end of 2020, compared to 700 at its beginnings.
It will be very easy for you to spot them, thanks to their retro design somewhat resembling a Vespa. Green painting also attracts the eye, just like the first name given to each scooter. In addition, in order to best distribute the fleet, Yego offers 10 free minutes on certain scooters in order to be able to bring them back to an indicated area, thus combining the optimization of the use of its two-wheelers with a reward.
The prices offered by Yego are more interesting than those practiced by competition, since a minute without subscription is billed 0.36 euros. The prepaid packs make it possible to further reduce the note, by combining additional credit. You can recharge your account of 9.90, 29.90, 49.90 or even 89.90 euros and save 16 %, 25 %, 30 %or 45 %respectively.
On the practical aspect, the Yego are not equipped with a skirt, making them difficult to recommend in bad weather. On the other hand, although it does not offer protection against rain and cold, the smartphone support located on the handlebars is very practical, since it is screwed and adapts easily to the majority of mobiles. A hook also makes it possible to transport bags between your legs and can complete the space under the saddle and the top case. Some two-wheelers finally offer a second helmet, which can be identified directly from the application.
The journey is introduced and ends from your smartphone. Yego being relatively young on the Paris market, scooters are currently in good condition and we have not encountered technical problems for use. The coverage area is however too limited, since it does not allow you to finish or start a trip outside Paris. Finally, having to take a picture of the scooter to restitution is somewhat restrictive.
- Price: 0.55 euros per minute without a prepaid pack, from 0.20 euros per minute with a prepaid pack of 89.90 euros;
- Advantages: price, smartphone support, “fun” design;
- Disadvantages: no skirt, limited area in Paris, reduced fleet.
Troopy, the fastest
Troopy is distinguished from competition with its scooters declined in two versions, namely an equivalent 50 cc model, as well as another 125 CC equivalent, thus allowing access to the fast tracks and reaching a top speed of 90 km /h. These are indeed replacing the thermal fleet of the operator, composed previously of scooters 125 CC Yamaha Tricity.
The new fleet is composed exclusively of Yamaha electric scooters, namely neo’s and E01. They are equipped with a skirt, a smartphone support and a top case, classifying them among the best for their practical appearance. Likewise, a second helmet is provided during the rental, allowing you to move with a passenger. In addition, the scooters being new, they of course have no wear problem.
Regardless of the model, scooters with white livery, black skirt, and coral inscriptions will be easy to spot. Scooters reserve, unlock and stop since the dedicated application, so you will have to think about having enough battery. Finally, the service that has just launched, the amount of scooters available is currently very low.
In terms of prices, Troopy is quite expensive, with “Troopy Flex,” traffic without subscription of 38 cents per minute for the 50cc and 48 cents for the 125 cc. The operator also offers prepaid packs, valid for a year: a “Troopy Booster” pack offers 9 euros in credit for 30 euros purchased, or 30 % additional credit. Likewise, the “Troopy Jet” pack offers 24 euros of credit offered for 60 euros purchased, a bonus of 38 %.
Finally, a “Troopy Zen” offer allows you to benefit from a subscription to nine euros per month, giving the right to a 10 % discount on all journeys, whether they are made in 50 or 125 cc. This offer is also offered to one euro per month for students, seniors over 60, people looking for jobs, sports clubs and associations.
- Price: 0.38 euros per minute for a 50 cc and 48 cents for a 125 cc without prepaid pack, from 0.24 euros per minute for a 50 cc and 30 cents for a 125 cc
- Advantages: quality of scooters, practical aspects, second helmet
- Disadvantages: price, availability still limited
Conclusion
There does not seem to be a single winner in this comparison and you will have to consider your needs and your uses to find the service that will meet them most. If the price is the most important criterion, Yego is by far the most interesting, at least for occasional journeys. On the other hand, Cooltra is distinguished thanks to his pass unlimited that are practical for a weekend for example.
Nevertheless, if you plan to get out of Paris or just look for the scooter closest to you, Cityscoot seems to be the solution you need.

Cityyscoot launches a subscription to the month in Paris
Cityyscoot has undoubtedly won over many customers with the implementation of paid parking for the thermal two-wheelers in Paris. The operator will now try to retain them with a formula in the so -called “Citymove” month.
Offered to all users, this new subscription is billed € 129 per month. It allows you to use Cityscoot electric scooters up to 500 minutes per month, every day and without route limitation.
If the subscriber does not use all his credit during the month, the remaining minutes cannot be recovered later. In other words, they will not be donated the following month, even if the user extends his subscription.
The Citymove subscription is without obligation. It is automatically renewed at the end of each month.
Regular service users will have every interest in opting for this new formula, which should allow them to save substantial money compared to the minutes of minutes. The latter are nevertheless interesting for a more occasional use of the service, because they are valid for a year.
Do Cityscoot competitors offer similar subscriptions ?
Cooltra has subscriptions operating over a given period, but none spans a month. To find something similar to the Citymove, you have to turn to Yego, which offers a 30 -day subscription to 119 €. The constraints are not quite the same: Yego sets a limit of 1,000 minutes per month, to which is added a limit of 100 minutes per day.
While Cityscoot reserves the Citymove subscription to its Parisian users, Yego also offers its 30 -day formula in Toulouse, at a lower cost (100 euros / month).
Antoine is interested in mobility in all its forms, with a particular appeal for cars, quadricycles and motorized two-wheelers. Big supporter of the electric scooter, its daily transportation means !
