Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo test: a floor vacuum cleaner full of options full of options

Ecovacs is expanding its catalog of vacuum cleaners with its Deebot X1 range which includes 3 models. In this series, we find the Deebot X1 Turbo which is positioned as the intermediate model, capable of sucking and washing the ground at the same time.

Presentation

The Deebot X1 Turbo from Ecovacs is a hybrid robot vacuum cleaner which aspires and which ishes the ground thanks to two pads ensuring up to 180 movements per minute. In order to offer a complete service, Ecovacs Book with this vacuum cleaner a load base which also acts as a self -cleaning station of the pads: this lava, dry and loaded water tank of the robot water tank. Needless to say, this base is therefore particularly imposing since it has two bins: one for dirty water and the other for clean water.

Launched at a price of € 1299, the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo does not have to be ashamed of its technical sheet which highlights a suction power of 5000 PA, an Aivi 3D camera to avoid obstacles or even connectivity for Remote settings.

Convenience of employment

By associating with the famous designer Jacob Jensen – who, among others, worked with Bang and Olufsen -, Ecovacs wished to revamp his ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo. If it presents a round shape that could not be more classic, its metallic gray shell is connected to the robot by magnets; It is therefore possible to remove it entirely to access the collector.

On this shell is the only touch button that allows you to manually start the robot or take it.

Vocal assistant Yiko

The Deebot X1 Turbo robot vacuum cleaner incorporates a vocal assistant responding to the name of Yiko. So it is possible to ask the robot directly “OK Yiko, ends the task” or “OK Yiko, goes to the maximum suction power” so that the robot is running. If this function can be useful in some respects, it is not successful, and after having asked for several actions, the robot could not perform them. For example, “Ok Yiko, sucks the ground”, was not heard by the Deebot X1 Turbo, and it’s a shame !

Equipped with a laser rangefinder, the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo can find their way in its environment and manage obstacles on its way. In addition to this laser, the robot takes advantage of a camera and detection sensors present at the front of the device: the winning combo to ensure good navigation.

The Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo is therefore a hybrid robot that sucks and washes the ground. In fact, it is equipped with two rotary pads to clean up the soil in depth, just like the Dreame Bot W10. These two rotary mushrooms are fixed on the belly of the robot through magnetized fixings; The robot then automatically understands that it must go into washing mode.

We cannot miss the imposing load base which, let’s be honest, will have a hard time finding its place in small spaces. Unlike most automatic emptying stations, this does not allow you to recover the collector’s waste. This station is only used to clean the pads, dry them and put clean water in the tank after a cleaning session. A very practical function which prevents the user from having to wash the rags after each cleaning session.

For this, there are two bins by lifting the hood of the load station: one that must be filled with clean water to recharge the tank, and the other which stores dirty water after cleaning the skates. Between these two bins, the manufacturer cleverly slipped a storage box of the accessories in which there are two additional mops as well as a cleaning brush.

Connectivity and application

As we have already mentioned in previous Ecovacs robot tests, the pairing between the robot and the Ecovacs Home application is done without incident and only takes a few seconds.

Once the robot has been connected to the application, we access the main interface which offers the robot directly in “automatic cleaning”, send it to its load base. By going to “intelligent cleaning”, we access the cartography which allows you to follow in real time the movements of the Deebot X1 Turbo when it aspires. On this card, it is also possible to define virtual areas and limits so that the robot cannot access certain places in the house.

Under this card, we find the different programming options: suction power (silent, standard, max and max +), water flow (low, medium, high), or smart cleaning. This last option allows you to customize the cleaning of the fireplace by choosing for example to use continuous cleaning, automatic suction power or 3D AIVI which automatically identifies and avoids obstacles during cleaning. Finally, note that it is also possible to monitor your home: by going to “video management”, the camera activates and the robot films its environment. An option that can be reassuring for some. and useless for others.

Note that the user can save several cards, for different floors for example.

Some additional options are finally offered in the settings menu which also gives access to the cleaning log or even the remaining lifespan of the components (brushes, filter). This application is particularly rich in functionality and the user is spoiled for choice to personalize the cleaning of its robot, which is particularly appreciable.

Interview

The collector of the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo is located under the hood. Its small capacity of 400 ml asks to empty it regularly. The emptying is not the most hygienic and the hands may come into contact with the dust when unclipping the collector to release the waste.

This collector is sealed by a HEPA type filter as well as a foam filter. Too dirty filters could tarnish the suction performance of the robot. We therefore swallowed 20 grams of cocoa powder to the Deebot X1 Turbo to see what this filter was able to recover.

At the end of this test, we found that the two filters had retained 0.3 g, which remains a reasonable quantity and is not likely to climb the robot too much. You will still have to think about dusting them from time to time.

By turning the Deebot X1 Turbo on the belly, the main brush made up of rubber and nylon hairs which can be easily removed from the base. The two side brushes extricate without difficulty in order to remove the intertwined hair.

The self -cleaning base does its job rather well: the mitlières seem cleaner after a cleaning cycle. It is more complicated for the base of the base, which tends to grow very quickly.

Navigation system

The Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo benefits from a fleet of sensors, a laser rangefinder and a camera to find your way in space.

It goes without saying that this robot navigates to perfection and that it very well bypasses obstacles. During his cleaning session, he first runs along the room before sucking the interior so as not to forget any corner. However, we see that the Deebot X1 Turbo is struggling to suck along certain plinths or under the curtains, which he surely takes for a wall.

In order to complicate the task of our robot, we place a few small objects on our lab’s floor to see if he manages to avoid them. Unsurprisingly, the robot does not brake as the object approaches and it passes on it before stopping net in its race.

Suction

The Deebot X1 Turbo provides very good suction performance provided you leave the necessary time.

On hard ground, it aspires 92 % of waste in 6 min, whether it is set in standard or maximum mode.

On a fine carpet, it recovers 88 % of trash in 7 min in standard mode. This time falls 3 min 50 s in max mode+.

Finally, on thick carpet, a particularly retorted test area for our vacuum cleaners, the Deebot X1 Turbo presented very good suction performance by swallowing 92 % of waste in 7 min (standard mode) and 94 % in 5 min 44 s (Max+mode).

Washing efficiency

If the Deebot X1 Turbo is a good vacuum cleaner, it is also a good floor of floor. As we have indicated in a news lab, this robot vacuum cleaner is particularly effective in erasing stains on the ground thanks to its two rotary mops.

In a single pass, it eliminates soda and oil stains used in our test protocol; On the other hand, several passages are needed on the stains of lipstick and carbon black. Note that lipstick never disappears completely.

Autonomy

The Deebot X1 Turbo is a marathoner. In standard mode, it managed to hold for 3 h 10 min on an area of around 40 m² before recharging on its base. Besides, he believes that he had to return to his base when he still has 15 % battery left. In the max+mode, it sucks for 1 h 10 min before unloading completely. Note that he still needs 5 h 30 min to fully recharge his batteries.

Writing note: 4 out of 5

Noise

This robot is particularly silent: set to the standard mode, it displays a noise level of 52 dB (A). Inevitably, it is noisier when it is set to Max+ mode and then emits 63 dB (A).
