Test ecovacs deebot x1 omni: the washer robot vacuum cleaner that wants you to save you time

In the 19th century if we had been told about a soil cleaner robot, we would probably have imagined something close to the human which reproduces the gestures that we make when we pass the vacuum cleaner or the mop. In 2022 we do not find this type of model in store, but the aspirate and washer robots exist well, and they always do more by trying to best access our expectations.

The Deebot X1 model that the Ecovacs brand offers today goes even further than what we knew with models like the very good Deebot T9+ of the brand. The idea here, in addition to further improving performance, is to release the user as much as possible to make the robot work as to empty and fill the internal bins, or change the cleaning brushes or pads.

Inevitably, this is also felt on congestion and only households with the sufficient place can consider discovering one day the content of this type of package. The base measures 57cm high, 45 in width and 30 in terms of depth and ideal is placed in a place where the surroundings are cleared.

We also find in the package the robot, its dust folding brushes, those used to wash, a spare pocket for the dust tray and a fairly clear manual in several languages, including French.

In addition to that, under the hood of the station, two bins are present: blue for water capable of filling regularly, the other recovers the soiled washing water to be emptied just as regularly. However, these are very simple and quick tasks to perform. In the center a brush can help clean the soiled tank and two other pads are provided. Even if the robot sets them automatically, the presence of a duplicate will allow them to be washing from time to time.

By continuing the exploration of the station, we discover in the middle the hut in charge of automatic dust recovery. A recovery bag is already in place and the device has the capacity to detect and warn when it is time to replace it.

At the bottom we can see the automatic washing system of the brushes made up of several jets. The tray is sloping to collect water which is recovered in the tank thanks to a pump system.

The robot is offered in a fairly classic design, but with a touch of modernity compared to more classic white models. But there is a white declination of this model for those that this slightly more high-tech aspect would not satisfy. At the front we can see the navigation and recognition of objects, but also the camera that will allow you to travel the home remotely for verification purposes.

The hood is held by a system of magnets that it is enough to lift to discover the interior of the device. The Power button only needs to be pushed during the first commissioning. Access to the internal dust tank will only be required from time to time to dust the filter since it is automatically emptied on return to the station.

Below we discover the side brushes which are used to fold the dust to the central brush which can be removed for cleaning if necessary. Washing brushes are also quickly fixed by a magnetic system. Those who have mixed floors with parquet or tiles combined with carpets or carpets will therefore be forced to remove and replace them and make two passages. A manipulation that the Deebot X1 OMNI unfortunately leaves the user in charge.

Even if start -up commands can be found at the station, the robot preferably pilots from an application that gives access to many options. Once this one is made, it is rather summary, but sufficient to properly draw several parts and launch a first cleaning. Some settings are quickly accessible via reception: number of passages, suction power or water flow.

After one or two additional passages, the card is more precise, even if the cutting of the parts is not perfect. This choice is not innocent, because we know, for having tested the little brother X1 Turbo who uses the same technology, that it is a bit fair. We actually noticed the same thing during the X1 OMNI test: even just after passing the ground parts are always insufficiently moistened to remove the most stubborn tasks.

Yet the device has the capacity to provide more water. He returns regularly to his station during cleaning to empty the dust and/or clean his brushes, and above all fill his internal tank. This could therefore be corrected in the future via an update. The advantage of this particularity is that drying is very fast, but users who want a lighter water cleaning, such as parquet owners, could always lower the level of humidification .

What cannot be corrected on the other hand is the impossibility of aspiring only the textile floors and at the same time cleaning since it cannot remove its brushes alone. However, we can launch a washing session without problem, it automatically detects and avoids carpets and carpets.

The cleaning experience with this OMNI X1 is identical to that of the X1 Turbo model. The robot is agile and knows how to detect the places where it will not be able to pass like the stairs. However, it will be worth putting a virtual barrier to avoid any fall.

It is also agile to pass obstacles like a rather embarrassing bay rail. Depending on how to pass, it has happened to block itself, the solution in this case once again is to place virtual limits or cut the separate parts so that it just crosses the difficult area.

In terms of aspiration, the work is very well done and even the edges are sucked in thanks to the brushes that fold the dust to the suction area. On the other hand for washing, no miracle, the edges of plinths are not accessible for pads. If he leaves the house in a satisfactory condition, the most encrusted traces will need to be done manually. It still ranks well above static mop models.

Its aspiration is indeed sufficient to remove the matter, like here from the earth, before the washing pads end the job by leaving a clean soil.

Compared to Model X1 Turbo, The Deebot X1 OMNI offers for 200 euros difference the automatic emptying of its internal dust tray and at this price level (more than 1000 euros) it is worth spending the course to free yourself from this task. The Deebot X1 Omni is aptly named with versatility in tasks mixing aspiration, washing, voice controls, but also a small touch of surveillance with its safety camera. It can hardly be reproached for it, but it remains perfectible on certain points at the washing level.

Aspiration, cartography and navigation are exemplary on the other hand and it allows you to refresh the floors effectively for you without you having more than 2 or 3 minutes of intervention to fill your tank and press the start key application. The price is up to the innovations offered by this new generation of washer robot vacuum cleaners even if the launch price set to 1299 euros instead of 1499 temporarily at Boulanger lighten the invoice a little.
