Illustrator and MacOS Catalina (10.15)
What are the illustrator versions compatible with MacOS Catalina ?
Illustrator 24.0 and Illustrator 23.1 work with MacOS 10.15 (Catalina), but they present certain known compatibility problems. We advise you to keep your current version of MacOS until these problems have been solved.
Adobe strongly recommends customers to carry out their own test on a partition other than a production partition to ensure that new operating systems work with their current equipment and pilots (printer pilots, etc.)).
If you encounter problems that are not yet documented, do not hesitate to point them out on our comments site.
Are the inherited or permanent versions of Illustrator compatible with MacOS Catalina ?
No, the inherited/permanent versions of Illustrator are not intended for MacOS 10.15 (Catalina) and were not tested on this system. They are in no way supported by MacOS Catalina.
Adobe advises against customers using old versions of Illustrator to upgrade to MacOS Catalina.
Illustrator version 22.0 and previous versions are not on the “old versions” list in the Creative Cloud office application.
Older versions use license management components and 32 -bit installation programs. Therefore, they cannot be installed and activated after upgrading to MacOS Catalina. If an old version is already installed on your computer and you upgrade to MacOS Catalina, the application may work to a certain extent. However, you will no longer be able to reinstall or activate the application after the macOS upgrade.
We advise you to uninstall older versions before upgrading to MacOS Catalina, because the uninstallation program will no longer work after the upgrade. If you have already upgraded to MacOS Catalina, you can use the Creative Cloud Cleaner tool to uninstall older versions.
