Update domain name servers
After having created a managed area, you must modify the names of names associated with the recording of your domain so that they point to the servers of Cloud DNS names. The procedure varies according to the provider of domain name services. Consult your supplier’s documentation to find out how to modify the name server.
If you don’t have a domain name yet, you can create and save one on Google Domains or Cloud Domains or with a third -party domain name service.
Noticed : The instructions to update the name servers in your domain vary depending on your registration office.

If you use Google Domains, follow these instructions to update the name servers in your domain.
- To update your domain name servers, go to Google Domains.
- Click on the domain you have configured. You can also click on the link Manage corresponding for this field.
- In the left navigation menu, click on Dns.
- Select Use personalized name servers.
- In the field Name server, Enter the first NS recording that you copied from the page Zone details (for example, NS1.googledomans.com). To obtain detailed instructions on the configuration of your domain and obtain DNS records, consult the Tutorial Configure a domain using Cloud DNS.
- To add additional name servers, click onAddAdd Until you have updated the four name servers on your DNS Google Domains page.
- Click on Save.
Search for Cloud DNS names
For Cloud DNS to work, you must determine the name servers that have been associated with your managed area and check that they correspond to those in your field. The different managed areas do not have the same name servers.
Console
- In the Google Cloud console, access the page DNS cloud zones. Access the DNS Cloud areas
- Below Zone name, Select the name of the managed area.
- On the page Zone details, click on Configuration of the recording service top right.

To return the list of configured name servers to distribute DNS requests for your area, run the DNS Managed-Zones Describe command:

Replace Zone_Name with the name of the managed area for which you wish to return a list of name servers.
Search for the IP addresses of your name servers
The IP addresses of your Cloud DNS name servers change and may not be the same for users located in different geographic locations.
To find the IP addresses of name servers in the partition of names A, execute the following command:

For private areas, you cannot question names on the public Internet. Therefore, it is not necessary to find their IP addresses.

Validate your name servers
Check that domain name servers correspond to name servers listed in the DNS cloud zone.
To search for name servers currently used, run the DIG command:
DIG -T ns myzone.example.com.
Noticed : If you use Microsoft Windows and DIG is not installed on your system, you can run a DIG -T NS query from the web interface.
Modify names of the domain name recording service
Now that you have the list of DNS Cloud Name Servers Housing your managed area, use your domain name recording service to update your domain name servers. Your domain name recording service can be Google Domains, Cloud Domains or a third -party registration service.
Noticed : The instructions vary depending on your registration office.
Generally, you should provide at least two DNS Cloud name servers to the domain name registration office. To benefit from the high availability of DNS cloud, you must use all name servers.
After changing the name servers from your domain name recording office, resolver traffic can take some time to be directed to new Cloud DNS servers. Resolvers can continue to use the old name servers until the TTL value of the old NS Records Expire.
