Delete an Android application: all methods, uninstall or delete applications and programs in Windows – Microsoft support

Uninstall or delete applications and programs in Windows

There are different ways to delete applications and programs. Therefore, if you can’t find the one you’re looking for, you can try another location. Note that some applications and programs are integrated into Windows and cannot be uninstalled. You can first try to repair a program, if it does not run properly.

Delete an Android application: all methods

Over time, you have probably accumulated many applications that do not serve you or more on your Android mobile. Clean up to release storage space by removing unnecessary apps.

Your Android smartphone is full of applications that you have installed over time. You downloaded them for specific use at a given time or simply to test a function on your device. However, like many users, you have probably forgotten to uninstall those who are no longer useful for you and who unnecessarily clutter the storage space for your smartphone. Not to mention applications that have a security risk for your mobile or for the confidentiality of your data (read our article here) and which still remain on your phone. Fortunately, all the applications you download from the Google Playstore can be deleted from your device. No need for this to download any tool. You can uninstall the applications one by one or, if you have decided to make a major cleaning, make a much faster deletion by lot.

How to delete an Android application ?

Two methods coexist to uninstall an application on your smartphone. The first is universal and works whatever the Android mobile. The second is only available on the devices of certain brands.

Universal method

  • Search from the home screen or application drawer that you want to delete. Press its icon for a long time. A menu appears then.

  • According to the brand of the smartphone, the version of Android that drives it and the version of the software overlay applied by its manufacturer, this small menu can offer several options (as here on a Samsung model running Android 11 with ONE overlay UI 3.1 from Samsung). In any case, a button is Uninstall. Press it to delete the application. You are then invited to confirm your choice. Validate by OK. The application is then completely deleted from the device with all the associated data.

Alternative method

  • With certain mobile brands, the deletion of an app can also be carried out from Android settings. Example here with a Honor smartphone. Open the settings and choose the menu Applications.

  • If a submenu Applications Or All applications is present, select it. The list of apps installed on the mobile is displayed.

  • Look for the one you want to delete and select it. You then have the application file with the authorizations granted to it the storage space it uses, etc. Also is a button Uninstall (placed at the top or bottom of the screen depending on the system used). Press it.

  • You are invited to confirm your choice. Press on OK. The application (and the data it contains) is then uninstalled.

How to delete several Android applications at once ?

If you want to proceed quickly and get rid of your smartphone from several applications, this method allows you to save time by suddenly deleting several apps.

  • Press The Playstore icon google. In the displayed menu, choose My applications.

  • If this method does not work, you can also open the Playstore then press on Your avatar top right and choose Manage applications and device.

  • In the displayed window, press Use of x go on xxx go (where X represents the amount of data used and specific to your device).

  • A new window appears presenting the applications installed on your mobile. Each is associated with a check box. Select the apps you want to delete by checking their box. When your choice is made, press the icon of the basket placed at the top right of the screen.

  • You are invited to confirm your decision. Press on Uninstall. The applications (and the data it contains) is then deleted simultaneously.
