Decathlon: revolutionary, the Elops LD 920 E electric bike is finally on sale
Announced last February, the Decathlon Elops LD 920 electric bike is finally available at Decathlon. This long distance model revolutionizes the range of the sports brand by integrating for the first time a continuous variation engine.
We were able to take charge of the Elops LD 920 e bike at the start of the year. A few laps that had particularly convinced us. This bike is positioned in the “long distance” category of Decathlon and has a battery of 702 Wh 48 V for this in the front tube and capable of ensuring assistance over a maximum of 150 km. With assistance at its highest level (3 modes available), the autonomy remains significant with 80 km indicated.
Very enduring therefore, the Elops LD 920 e is distinguished above all by its fairly innovative engine E2Drives. Delivering a couple of 65 nm, it was carried out jointly with a Belgian start-up and draws its originality in the integration of a continuous variation box-a sort of automatic transmission if you wanted to schematize as much as possible. The transmission remains by chain but there is therefore no more speed because it is the resistance to pedaling that we will modulate, as on a hub with continuous variation.
A beautiful color LCD screen is housed on the gallows. This provides all the information related to speed, assistance and autonomy. It is also connected, enough to connect the bike to a mobile application in Bluetooth or even in 4G. With a GPS chip, the bike can be located at any time. Finally, the screen also has a USB-C socket to connect and thus recharge a smartphone.
