Crunchyroll recovers the Japanese animation catalog of the Wakanim platform

Crunchyroll recovers the Japanese animation catalog of the Wakanim platform

This rapprochement is the continuation of the merger between Crunchyroll and Funanimation in August 2021.

Crunchyroll, the streaming platform specializing in Japanese animation announces, this Tuesday, March 1, recover the series and films from the Wakanim catalog, another specialized service domiciled in France. It will now be possible for Crunchyroll subscribers to view series previously exclusive to its competitor.

The rapprochement between the two former rivals follows the merger between Crunchyroll and Funanimation (the holder of Wakanim) in August 2021. To acquire the market leader of market streaming previously owned by AT&T, Sony had to pay $ 1.1 billion.

End of DNA and Wakanim

Wakanim’s content will migrate to Crunchyroll, but not the opposite. The Sony group today holds three different brands positioned on animation streaming: Crunchyroll, Wakanim and 50% DNA, the rest of the joint venture is held by the Kana publishing house. Sony seems to want to keep only his strongest brand. In the long term, the other two subsidiaries are then doomed to disappear. For 5 euros per month, subscribers may have access to all the catalog Wakanim, without time limitation. This monthly subscription comes at the same time to replace the Zeropub subscription.

Note that the series “The attack of the Titans“will not be accessible until Monday March 14, 2016 .

Sora Kiseki except that for the boxes, you really have to be sure to appreciate the series! And you still have to hope that the series you want to go out one day on DVD/Blu-ray. Subscriptions, it allows you to look at a lot of series and see if they like (legal).

I hope they will put the Zeropub subscription (leaving the new subscription) .
I put two, three euros per month. And when a series interested me, I bought it in final.
Now either I have advertising, or I pay more to watch the simulcast series (there are more services, but that’s not what I want for the moment). ��

Impeccable, it was time, I deprived myself of a lot of anime because they were licensed at home and I hate to look at a “free” anime.

Even if it does not change anything in my opinion on Wakanim which is very very negative, I find it very good that they offer their whole service for 5 euros rather than paying each series (it was over abused) so cool ^^

Oh great, I will be able to look at a few anime that I did not have the chance to see during their broadcast (paying a series each time, that is too much for my breakfast) so it’s very good news, actually !

Good news. Many anime of their catalog interested me but out of the question to pay for each series. Happy to see that they deigned to align themselves with an interesting model for publishers and consumers.

We learn through the new issue of the Big Comic Superior review that Shuzo Oshimi is currently preparing a new manga.
