Carrefour offers the rental of a Tesla for only 59 euros per day

And for a first, Carrefour strikes hard by offering to rent two models to start: the classic Model 3 and the Model Y, bigger, “which is akin to a SUV”, welcomes the Parisian, the director of services Carrefour merchants, Jean-Baptiste Prévoteau. But above all, the group of Alexandre Bompard strikes hard thanks to the prices he offers. Until the end of July, the first day will be offered at 59 euros and then the following between 119 and 149 euros depending on the model and the period (day, week or weekend). As a comparison, the Parisian recalls that the big rental companies that are opinion, Hertz or Europcar, a day is billed around 200 euros.

Among the first cities offering these tesla for rental, you find Haÿ-les-Roses, Rambouillet or Pontault-Combault in Ile-de-France. “Pleasure experience”

With 6.500 vehicles of the brand in stock, Carrefour hopes to have an “use rate” of 80%, advances Jean-Baptiste Prévateau. The stakes are double for the mass distribution giant while its rental service is good (+ 20% of use). These rentals will allow the French to try electric cars and also “to offer a pleasure experience”, wishes to underline the director of the group services of the group.

The other challenge is to offer electric vehicles while prices at the pump are constantly climbing. But for that, the charging stations must follow. There will be several possibilities, whether at home, on Tesla supercharges, or on the paid terminals of Carrefour Energie or the equipped service stations. According to Le Parisien, Carrefour also wants to allow buyers of new vehicles to wait between the purchase and delivery of their order which can take a long time at the moment, a period “during which the buyer turns to rental”, explains Jean-Baptiste Prévoteau.

After the Dacia Spring at Leclerc, it is the Carrefour’s turn to switch to electric, but with a much more premium approach. Via its Carrefour Rental service, the giant of the big distribution has just joined its first Tesla electric cars.

With a network of some 850 agencies in France, Carrefour Rental will offer the two flagship models of the American brand: the Tesla Model 3 and the Tesla Model Y. First, the offer will be available in 80 store stores before being deployed more widely by 2023. The size of the fleet is not specified, but should easily represent several hundred vehicles.

A launch offer at € 59/day

Already available in nearly thirty shops*, the Tesla Rental Tesla offer is offered at an advantageous rate until July 31 with a first day billed at € 59. The prices will then vary between 119 and 149 €/day depending on the model and the period chosen.

For Carrefour, the deployment of this electric car rental offer completes a massive investment plan in the charging stations. Carried by Carrefour Energies, it aims to install several thousand charges in all the group’s hypermarkets and supermarkets by 2025.
