Facebook Dating: an integrated dating application in Facebook

Last May, Facebook announced the development of a functionality intended to promote meetings between singles on the social network. If the launch is not yet on the agenda, new information allows us to better view Facebook’s intentions.

Facebook Dating, this is his name, will not be an application, but a functionality within the social network. Currently in internal tested, the functionality has revealed part of its secrets to researcher Jane Manchun Wong.

Facebook employees have therefore created dummy profiles to test the user experience and locate dating bugs. On Jane Manchun Wong’s screens captures, the company warns its employees that the functionality is not there to encourage employees to go out together, and that all data will be deleted during the launch.

How dating works ?

According to these first test images, we learn that by activating Facebook dating, only the other people who put the functionality in activity will be able to see your profile. Dating information will not be shared on the news feed.

By activating dating, you will unlock groups or events in which you participate for meetings, and you can browse potential correspondence. If two people express their mutual interest, they can be written via Messenger or Whatsapp.

Dating do not have a swinder swipe function and limits the number of people with whom you can have interactions, thus preventing spam behavior. For the moment, blocking a profile on dating will not block it on Facebook. In this test phase it is possible to delete your dating account.

The social network has not yet intended to show dating advertisements in news wires and plans to prevent access to functionality under 18.
