What conditions do you have to fulfill ?

You must fulfill the following conditions:

  • Be domiciled in France
  • The reference tax income by share indicated in the tax notice of your income from the previous year is less than or equal to € 13,489 (tax notice 2021 on your 2020 income)
  • Buy or rent a vehicle Between April 28 and December 31, 2022.

The aid is paid to the maximum once per person until January 1, 2023.

When it is more advantageous, the amount of aid in force before January 2022 remains applicable to a new vehicle ordered before December 31, 2021 included, if its invoicing occurs at the latest the March 31, 2022. The same goes for a new vehicle whose rental contract was signed before December 31, 2021 included if the payment of the 1st rent comes at the latest the March 31, 2022.

Petrol vehicle

The vehicle to be destroyed must fulfill the following conditions:

  • Be a private car (VP) or a van (CTTE)
  • Have been the subject of a registration Before January 2006
  • Belong to the beneficiary of the premium For at least 1 year
  • Be registered in France in a normal series or with a final registration number: Titlecontent
  • Not to be pledged
  • If it is a vehicle considered as a damaged vehicle: Titlecontent by an expert, it must have been provided for at least 1 year on the date of its delivery for destruction or the date of invoicing of the vehicle acquired or rented
  • Be given for destruction within 3 months preceding or the 6 months following the invoicing of the new vehicle to an “out -of -use vehicle” center (VHU) approved or to an approved installation for depollution and disassembly of vehicles out of use

Diesel vehicle

The vehicle to be destroyed must fulfill the following conditions:

  • Be a private car (VP) or a van (CTTE)
  • Have been the subject of a registration Before January 2011
  • Belong to the beneficiary of the premium For at least 1 year
  • Be registered in France in a normal series or with a final registration number: Titlecontent
  • Not to be pledged
  • If it is a vehicle considered as a damaged vehicle: Titlecontent by an expert, it must have been insured for at least 1 year on the date of its delivery for destruction or the date of invoicing of the vehicle acquired or rented

  • Not to be sold in the year following its purchase, nor before having traveled at least 6,000 km
Rechargeable hybrid vehicle (CO2 rate ⩽ 50g/km)

The vehicle must meet the following conditions:

  • Be purchased or rented as part of a contract lasting 2 years or more
  • Price ⩽ € 60,000 including tax: Titlecontent
  • Be registered in France with a final number: Titlecontent
  • Do not be considered a damaged vehicle: Titlecontent
  • Not to be sold in the year following its purchase, nor before having traveled at least 6,000 km
Thermal vehicle

The vehicle must meet the following conditions:

  • To be classified Crit’Air 1
  • Be purchased or rented as part of a contract lasting 2 years or more
  • Price ⩽ € 50,000 including tax: Titlecontent
  • Be registered in France with a final number: Titlecontent
  • Do not be considered a damaged vehicle: Titlecontent
  • Not to be sold in the year its purchase, nor before having traveled at least 6,000 km

If the vehicle is nine and registered for the 1st time in France, it must issue as much 127 g of CO2 per km.

If the vehicle is second hand registered for the 1st time in France since Less than 6 months, He must issue as much 127 g of CO2 per km.

If the vehicle is second hand registered for the 1st time in France since more than 6 months, He must issue as much 137 g of CO2 per km.

However, for a vehicle second hand registered for the 1st time in France Before March 2020, or for a wheelchair accessible vehicle ::

  • The threshold of 127 g/km is replaced by the 99 g/km threshold,
  • The threshold of 137 g/km is replaced by the threshold of 109 g/km.

Van

2 or 3 motorized or electric quadricycle wheels

The vehicle purchased or rental must be a 2 or 3 motorized or electric wheels:

  • without lead battery,
  • And whose maximum net power of the engine is at least 2 or 3 kW: Titlecontent, depending on the applicable European standard).

In addition, the vehicle must fulfill the following 4 conditions:

  • Be purchased or rented as part of a contract lasting 2 years or more
  • Be registered in France with a final number: Titlecontent

In addition to the ecological bonus, the destruction of certain old vehicles opens the right to the payment of a conversion bonus for the purchase of a little polluting vehicle, also called a bonus.

Conversion bonus: developments in 2023

Decree No. 2022-1761 of December 30, 2022 modified for 2023 the conditions for the allocation of the conversion premium:

  • Your reference tax income per share must be less than or equal to 22,983 euros;
  • The amount of the premium is reinforced for modest households and in particular “large rollers”;
  • If you are in a low mobility emission zone (ZFE), the amount of the premium is increased by 1,000 euros. The increase can reach 3,000 euros if a local authority, located in the ZFE, has assigned you aid with the same object.

The vehicle conversion premium has been set up to promote the acquisition of little polluting vehicles. It is supervised in articles D251-4, D251-4-1, D251-4-2 and D251-4-4-4 of the energy code.

In addition to the ecological bonus, the destruction of certain old vehicles opens the payment of a conversion bonus for the purchase of a vehicle, a bicycle with or without assisted pedaling, under certain conditions.

The conversion bonus: the award methods

  • of your income;
  • vehicle to be destroyed (petrol or diesel);
  • New vehicle purchased and the energy used: Piopitoire car, van, 2 or 3 motorized wheels, motor quadricycle, cycles with or without assisted pedaling. Vehicles can be electric, thermal Crit’Air 1 or transformed into an electric vehicle with battery or hydrogen fuel cell.

The amount of the conversion bonus

The amount of the premium is calculated according to the characteristics of the vehicle purchased and the situation of the applicant.

The scale of the 2023 conversion bonus (PDF – 1.3 MB) makes it possible to identify the amounts of the premium according to the situations.

You can test your eligibility for the premium and assess its amount on the Primealaconversion site.gouv.fr, then make your request online.

The perception of the premium to conversion

If your dealer does not give you the advance of the premium, you must ask it yourself on the Official Primealaconversion portal.gouv.fr, by submitting a file via the online teleservice.

You have 6 months from the billing date for your new vehicle to submit your request.

The conversion premium eligible for the retrofit

The retrofit is a technique to transform a thermal car into an electric. Since June 1, 2020, the retrofit can benefit from the conversion premium under the conditions set by article D251-5 of the energy code.

Additional aid

Cumulative with the ecological bonus and the conversion bonus, this loan is intended for people or households with difficulties in access to classic banking credit or in fragile professional situations. This aid concerns the purchase of a new or little polluting vehicle (PDF – 445 KB). This system is guaranteed by the State up to 50 % of the amount subscribed. To obtain this loan, you must contact a social support service which will accompany you in all the administrative procedures for the assembly of the file and the presentation in front of an approved bank.

Since January 1, 2023, a zero -rate loan experiment (PTZ) for the purchase of an electric or hybrid vehicle or for the transformation of a thermal vehicle into electric is possible, under conditions, in low emissions areas Mobility (ZFE-M).
