If there is one point on which you are not likely to be surprised, it is that of appearance. Indeed, Samsung has chosen to resume the design of the A52S for its A53. The dimensions of the new model are slightly reduced, but it is very difficult to distinguish the two smartphones at first glance. Both bet on a plastic design, but with good finishes and a photo island perfectly integrated into the hull. In short, Samsung understood that its design pleased and does not hesitate to renew it over the generations.

The two devices have an IP67 standard. In terms of connectivity, the A52S benefits from Bluetooth 5.0 while the A53 opts for Bluetooth 5.1 as well as Wi-Fi 6 standard. High improvements which however allow the Galaxy A53 to take stock on this round.

The differences between the screens are imperceptible. The two smartphones incorporate a 6.5 -inch Super Amoled slab, with a definition of 2400 x 1080 pixels as well as a 120 Hz refresh rate (non -adaptive). However, the sleeve returns to the Galaxy A52S, a short head. The previous model has for him a slightly higher maximum brightness, a very slightly better controlled color temperature, as well as a more limited touch delay (53 against 70 ms). A round that is therefore played on tenuous details, so much so that we are dealing here with a quasi-equality.

The Samsung Galaxy A53 is freed from Qualcomm and rests on its home platform. This is how the exynos 1280 appears, the most recent chip of the South Korean manufacturer. The Galaxy A52S offers it a Snapdragon 778g (for “Gaming”), an excellent mid -range chip that knew how to impress us during its passage on note bench.

One thing that we cannot really say with the exynos of the A53. Indeed, the Samsung chip has been very below expectations; A bit like the exynos 2200 that we can find within the Galaxy S22. For example, the Galaxy A53 displays on average only 34 i/s when the A52S stabilizes around 86 i/s, that is to say much more than double. A fairly impressive disparity.

The Galaxy A52S rested on a photo block with four modules, and this is always the case with the A53. Both have a main module of 64 megapixels, coupled with another ultra-angle of 12 megapixels. A macro objective as well as a depth sensor complete the panoply and complete 5 megapixel sensors each. For its new mid -range smartphone, the Korean firm has made great efforts in terms of photo. This results in much more detailed day -to -day shots as well as a much better exposure. The contrast is also less pronounced. At night, it’s the same song. The A53 manages to offer a much more usable image, despite the very smoothing applied by the software.

Autonomy

Battery capacity 5000 mAh Battery capacity 4500 mAh
Our laboratory measures Our laboratory measures
Measured autonomy 17 hours) Measured autonomy 21 hours)
Loading time 78 minutes Loading time 89 minutes

In terms of autonomy, victory returns to the Galaxy A52S. Indeed, even by having a less substantial accumulator (4,500 mAh vs 5000 mAh on the A53), the latter will have managed to hold the charge for almost 21 hours. A score fairly distant from that of the latest Born of Samsung, which made arms after 4 h 43 min.

For recharging, the two mobiles are housed in the same brand. It is done at 25 W and it takes between 1 h 20 min and 1 h 30 min to reach 100 %. An important clarification however: Samsung no longer delivers a load block with its new galaxy has. Thus, the A53 is delivered alone and it will therefore be necessary to recycle an old charger or acquire a new.

Verdict

Even if the Galaxy A53 5G is winning this duel, it’s on the wire. The Galaxy A52S shines in particular by its performance and its autonomy, which remain much better than those of its successor. The Galaxy A53 offers a much more pleasant photo part, and earns an extended update guarantee (four versions of Android). In short, if we except the criterion nevertheless crucial of software sustainability, the Galaxy A52S, with its price reductions, constitutes a better performance/price ratio than its successor, and especially a good deal.

Not easy to succeed the Galaxy A52 and A52S. The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G has new priorities. He takes over with a certain mastery in terms of ergonomics and display. The smartphone enjoys a successful AMOLED screen, which therefore allows you to enjoy multimedia content pleasantly. He also has the merit of presenting a much more satisfactory photo component than that of his elders, which makes it a more versatile model. The assessment is on the other hand halftone with regard to power and autonomy, correct, but lower than last year. These downsides aside, Samsung has the merit of carrying its promise of software updates at 4 years on this Galaxy A53 5G, no longer reserving this favor for its Galaxy S22: its sustainability, which we observe with attention, found increased.
