For its new generation of smartphones, Samsung is betting on 3 devices: Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra. Very high-end phones display a different price, sometimes above the 1,000 euros mark. But why such a price difference ? We explain everything to you on these devices which are aimed at three different audiences.

This year, Samsung has not waited long to show its know-how in terms of ultra-premium smartphones. During the latest Galaxy Unpacked in February, the South Korean manufacturer has formalized the Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra. Real high -end jewelry with interesting characteristics.

Three phones for three different uses and especially three separate prices. A tariff difference of around 400 euros between the classic model of the Galaxy S22 and the S22 Ultra version. But that justifies such a price difference ? We dissect all that.

Speaking of prices, during the pre -orders that take place currently, Samsung sets up a recovery bonus on your old smartphone when buying a Samsung Galaxy S22. An additional 100 euros that allows you to save up to 620 euros with the resale of your old phone. Enough to drop the price of the Galaxy S22 to 229 euros, at most, instead of 859 euros. Galaxy S22 and S22+: Compact or large screen ?

What differences between the Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S22+ ? It is at the level of the phone size that the price difference between the two devices is justified. The Galaxy S22 is a compact terminal with its 6.1 inch screen. For its part, the Galaxy S22+ draws a larger slab of 6.6 inches. It is therefore intended for users looking for a good diagonal to enjoy all the content in streaming in the best conditions. Conversely, the Galaxy S22 will appeal to users who do not want a bulky phone. In both cases, they will benefit from an AMOLED slab at the Full HD+ definition and at the 120 Hz refreshment rate, which fluidifies the display in all circumstances.

Hardware is the second difference. The Samsung Galaxy S22 benefits from a 3,700 mAh battery supporting the fast load (25 W in wired and 15 W in induction). The Galaxy S22+is powered by an accumulator of 4,500 mAh, which benefits from the 45 W quick load, and 15 W in wireless. The “+” version is therefore more enduring and faster to load than its little brother. A plus for those who want a smartphone capable of accompanying them all day.

For the rest, the Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22+ are like two drops of water. It must be said that they both bet on a magnificent design with slightly rounded slices, just like the corners, for a very pleasant grip. The two smartphones are adorned with many colors, namely green, white, black and pink. Four additional colors are available exclusively on the official Samsung store: gray, cream, sky blue and purple. You are therefore guaranteed to have a smartphone that really corresponds to your tastes.

Another visible similarity: the back photo module. The two phones have a 50 megapixel main sensor, a 12-megapixel large angle and a 10 megapixel telephoto lens. The latter offers an optical zoom × 3 and a Space Zoom × 30 (a digital zoom). Once again, Samsung guarantees excellent photo versatility, capable of collecting all scenarios. Especially since the software part is not to be outdone with the very good night modes, timelapse or the original Ar Doodle mode.

Even the technical sheet is identical. The S22 and S22+ rely on an Exynos 2200, 8 GB SOC of RAM and a storage up to 256 GB depending on the models. Regarding performance, you will simply not miss it. You can run the greediest 3D games without suffering from slowing down.

Galaxy S22 Ultra: a large format for great possibilities

Fleuron of this new series, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is also the most expensive of the three phones, not without reason. This smartphone is in fact aimed at those who want a device that accompanies them on a daily basis and with whom they can work. The Galaxy S22 Ultra adopts a large format, with a large diagonal of 6.8 inches. What is more, it incorporates an S Pen stylus in its chassis, which makes it ideal for taking notes or sketches on the fly.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is also adapted to the needs of amateur and professional photographers. Its photo block, which only slightly exceeds from the shell, includes a main 120 megapixel sensor, a 12-megapixel large angle and two 10 megapixel telephotics. The first offers an X10 optical zoom and a Space Zoom X100. The second guarantees an X3 optical zoom and a Space Zoom x30. The shots are simply magnificent, in addition to being extremely detailed and clear.

Of course, the best Samsung smartphone has a technical sheet that meets its ambitions. Its all -angled design is sublimated by a Dynamic AMOLED 120 Hz and Quad HD+ screen perfectly calibrated. Under the hood, there is an exynos 2200 chip, from 8 to 12 GB of RAM and storage that can climb up to 1 to 1 to. Suffice to say that he is not afraid of any use and in particular the multitasking.

Ultimate asset: its autonomy. His 5,000 mAh battery offers him a substantial endurance, while his compatibility with the 45 W quick charge and 15 W wireless allows him to rarely fall from energy.

The Galaxy S22 and S22+ share the same characteristics in terms of design and screen. Samsung calls its “outline” design with the metal photo module that comes out in relief on the back. The back, precisely, is when covered with Gorilla Glass Victus+ (at the front too).

Contrary to what some leaks have been able to make us believe, the Galaxy S22 are not made with recycled fishing nets. Samsung said that these meterials would be used to make “certain components”, but it’s very vague. For the rest, the frame is in alluminium and the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus are available in four colors: Phantom Black, Phantom White, Green and Pink Gold.

Regarding the screen, the 6.1 and 6.6 inch AMOLED tiles of the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus are flat and not curved. There is a Full HD+ definition with a variable cooling rate of 120 Hz and a 240 Hz touch sampling rate. As for the brightness, the Galaxy S22 is capable of displaying 1,300 nits while the Galaxy S22 Plus can reach 1750 Nits (in peak).

Let’s go to the ultra galaxy s22 which has certain specificities. We abandon the coutour-head design with a photo module which is directly integrated into the case and does not rest in an island. There too, we find Gorilla Glass Victus+ at the front and back. The 6.8 -inch AMOLED screen displays a QHD+ resolution with the same refreshing and touch -up sampling rates of 120 and 240 Hz, respectively.

The screen of the Galaxy S22 Ultra is also slightly curved, depending on the process 2.5D from Samsung. The slices of the smartphone are however straight and flat, which evokes the design of the old Galaxy Note. In the left corner of the lower edge, we find the location for the S-PEN, which looks like a classic S-PEN and which comes out and storks as on a Galaxy Note.

Last detail, all models are IP68 certified for water and dust resistance. This year, design is more harmonious in terms of materials. No more plastic or polycarbonate for the basic models but the Galaxy S22 Ultra comes out despite everything with its galaxy note look which, I am sure, will appeal to the nostalgic of this range.

Galaxy S22 VS S22+ VS S22 Ultra: Performances and Connectivity

The Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra are all of the Exynos 2200 SOC in Europe. This mobile processor engraved in 4 Nm is based on an octacœur arrangement with a cortex-x2 to 2.8 GHz, three cortex-a710 at 2.50 GHz and 4 Cortex-A510 at 1.7 GHz. We also find a GPU XClipse 920.

The Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus are available in two memory configurations with 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage. The Galaxy S22 Ultra offers three additional versions with 12 GB of RAM and 256, 512 or 1 TB of storage. Some benchmarks carried out several weeks before the launch of the Galaxy S22 pressed that the Exynos 2200 could be lower than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 but we will have to wait for our full tests so that we can pronounce on the performance of the new Samsung.

In terms of the ultra galaxy s22, there is a quadruple photo module with a main lens of 108 mp. Compared to the ISOCELL HM3 of the Galaxy S21 Ultra, the chip has however increased by 23%, which suggests a new sensor. Indeed, in the official Samsung sensors park, only the ISOCELL GN2 and HP1 are larger than the HM3 – and they have 50 and 200 MP respectively.

For the rest, there is a lot of fairly classic sensors with an ultra-wide-angle of 12 Mp and two telephoto lenses of 10 MP each, one for the X3 optical zoom (the same as on the Galaxy S22 and S22+) and L Other for the X10 optical zoom.

On the photo side, the differences between the S22/S22+ and the Ultra S22 are therefore limited to the main objective, the sensor of which is larger in size and resolution on the ultra model as well as on the presence of an additional telephoto lens for the X10 optical zoom whose basic models are private.

Galaxy S22 vs S22+ VS S22 Ultra: Software

The Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra all run on Oneui 4.1, the latest version of the Samsung interface based on Android 12. Samsung did not mention a particular feature.

Galaxy S22 vs S22+ VS S22 Ultra: Autonomy and Rapid Recharge

This is the part on which Samsung is the least efficient, in general. The Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ board batteries of 3700 and 4500 mAh, respectively. It is not staggering for flagships and it is especially much less than the 5000 mAh of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.

This is a good point that Samsung finally goes up a little in the recharge even if he could have dropped us 45 W on the basic model too.
