Here are the 25 favorite Disney animated films of the French

Disney+ arrives this Tuesday, April 7 in France, with its catalog of hundreds of films and series. Among the content available, a very large majority of the classics that have made the reputation of the American animation studio. Some are lacking in the call because they have been removed from traffic by Disney – like “southern melody”, due to its racist content. Others, like “the snow queen II”, are too recent to appear on the service due to the French regulations which impose a period of 36 months between the cinema exit and the availability on a streaming platform. So they will arrive later.

But the good news is that most of the favorite Disney of the French are well available on Disney+. To make sure, Business Insider France asked the Yougov Institute to question a representative panel of the French population to find out what their favorite animated film is among the classics of the firm to the big ears. With the results of this survey, we were able to constitute a ranking of the 25 favorite Disney films of the French, which you can consult at the bottom of this article. 24 of them are available on Disney+. The 25th, “the snow queen II”, should be available from September 2022, it will therefore take a little patience.

The survey reveals other information about the French relationship with Disney classics. For example, significant disparities according to the genre. “Cinderella” is thus more appreciated in women – it is the favorite Disney of 7.48% of them, while it is only the first choice of 0.70% of men – just like “the Beauty and the Beast “, requested by 4.86% of them, against 0.49% of men. On the other hand, “Tarzan” is chosen by more men – 3.68% of them, against 1.71% for the whole population (the result in women is not enough meaning).

We also observe that more recent films are more chosen by the youngest respondents. Thus, “Zootopia”, released in February 2016 in France, is the favorite Disney film of 6.51% of 18-24 year olds, while it was only chosen by 2.75% of 35-45 year olds. The older respondents, over 55, fall back more logically on older films. “Bambi”, which was released in 1947 in France, is the favorite Disney of 9.71% of them, while it is only chosen by 0.72% of 18-24 year olds.

Among 25-34 year olds, the films of the 90s are more acclaimed. “Pocahontas” is for example chosen by 5.71% of respondents, while it is only 1.15% of 45-54 year olds. Among the 35-44 year olds, it was “the snow queen”, yet released in 2013, which stands out. He is chosen as Disney preferred by 8.16% of respondents in this age group, while it is only in 2.32% of 45-54 year olds. A particularity which could explain by the fact that it is the generation having young children.

The survey was carried out by the Yougov Institute with 1007 people representative of the French population aged 18 and over. It was carried out online from March 9 to 10, 2020. Respondents had to answer the question “among the following Disney films, which do you prefer ? Please select a single answer “and could choose from a list of 44 films produced by Disney animation studios made up of Business Insider France.
