Noise reduction helmets
The Sony Wh-1000XM3 helmet incorporates active noise reduction, ideal for enjoying your music even in the noisiest places.
Casques and headphones with noise reduction
In a not so distant past, people wore helmets for the sole purpose of having fun. This time is over. Today, helmets accompany you everywhere, every day. Users rely on noise reduction at the same time to work and entertain. Currently, we offer several models of helmets with Bluetooth and wireless noise. All these models incorporate the exclusive bose noise reduction technology, for unrivaled silence and an exceptional sound sound.

Formerly reserved for professionals, mainly in airports, noise reduction helmets are today acclaimed by travelers, by plane as train or in the metro. With a noise reducer helmet you appreciate your music without undergoing the roar of the turbines or the repetitive noise of the axles on the rails. Ideal for enjoying music in transport, these noise reduction helmets provide a really amazing listening quality.

Insulating a helmet seems simple in principle. The use of thick and dense foams in the headsets of the helmet is a first barrier reducing the passage of noise from the outside. However, it is possible to improve insulation by using a noise reduction helmet.
What is the interest of active noise reduction ?
Active noise reduction is added to passive reduction performance offered by closed helmets and intra-ear headphones.
The closed helmets offer passive insulation which makes it possible to overcome surrounding noises by means of earrings closed by a shell that encompasses the atrial pavilion. As for in-ear headphones, they are comparable to quies balls and adapt perfectly to the auditory duct. Silicone or foam pads provided with headphones act like a barrier that blocks the transition to external sound disturbances.
Thanks to active noise reduction technology, it is possible to benefit from insulation adding to that already offered by closed helmets and intra-ear headphones. You can enjoy the music without having to mount the stronger volume in noisy places such as public transport for example (plane, metro, train, etc.)).

How does the active noise reduction work ?
The operation of the active noise reduction is simple. It is based on a physical principle on which any signal depends: the phase. Distributing a sound identical to a first sound on an opposite phase amounts to canceling or attenuating the first sound signal. It is sort of the sound equivalent of the mathematical operation 1+(-1) = 0
To carry out this operation, the helmet or headphones must be equipped with several elements. You need a battery, one or more microphones, as well as an electronic circuit with an processor to apply this audio signal processing called DSP (Digital Signal Processing). The microphones will capture the mood noise and the processor will add it to a phase opposed to the signal which will be broadcast to subtract it from the music inside the helmet or headphones.
This technology requires an electronic circuit with a power source in a headset of the helmet, or on the cable of the intra-ear headphones.
The Dali Io-6 Bluetooth headset has a very complete control interface, including a button dedicated to active noise reduction (to the right of the USB-C port)
The effectiveness of noise reduction
The effectiveness of the reduction will therefore depend on the one hand on the quality of the materials used for passive reduction, on the other hand on the quality of the components used to carry out the active reduction treatment (quality of microphones, placement of these- CI, DSP performance). If these treatments are not of quality, the helmet or headphones restore music of less good quality, affected by the digital treatment of active noise reduction.
Thus, under optimal conditions of use, the active noise reduction will be very effective in alleviating repetitive noises such as the purring of aircraft reactors, the noise of the axles of a train, or the hubbub of a crowd. However, he lets more punctual voices pass or noise like a horn, which ensures additional security for the user.
A key (ANC, Active Noise Cancelling) is present on these helmets and headphones with this technology allowing to activate or deactivate this function. For some helmets, once the battery is emptied, listening and the noise reduction function are no longer available before battery recharging or battery change. For others, it is possible to use the wired helmet (3.5 mm jack), without active noise reduction.
Characteristics and functions of active noise reduction helmets

The couplings | THE Supra-Aurral coupling (or supra-ear) means that the earworks are placed flat on the ears, generating more or less significant pressure on pavilions. |
Passive reduction : offered by intra-ear headphones thanks to their shells placed inside the ear canal, it is also by closed helmets, their earrings encompassing the ears in order to cut you from any external external disturbance.
