1 er / Dacia Jogger

  • Unbeatable in terms of price/services

Under the hood, no diesel: the Dacia Jogger (made in Romania) offers a 1.0 TCE with 110 hp petrol, and a malicious “bicarburation” engine of 100 hp, capable of driving on petrol as well as in LPG, and presenting a very interesting autonomy and cost of use.
A 140 hp hybrid version further improving the services and with an automated box has just landed on the jogger, but with a more substantial rate: € 25,500 minimum.

His qualities

  • unbeatable price
  • 7 real places
  • generous habitability
  • presentation
  • Reputation of reliability
  • Hybrid

Her downsides

  • Basic version equipment
  • bad soundproofing
  • no diesel
  • Finishing details

Engines and dimensions

  • Petrol range: 110 hp, from € 18,800 (in 7 places)
  • GPL/petrol range: 100 hp, from € 18,800 (in 7 places)
  • Hybrid range: 140 hp, from € 25,500 (in 7 places)
  • LXLXH (m): 4.55×1,78×1,69
  • Chest at 7/to 5/to 2 (L): 212/699/2 085

2 nd / Ford S-Max

  • Would the S-Max be improving as they get older ?

On board, the finish is perfectible and the presentation displays real wrinkles, just like the multimedia system, but the whole remains pleasant. In the second row, the three individual seats sill independently of each other and at the bottom, two retractable seats in the floor fold electrically, to offer 630 liters of capacity in the trunk.
Habitability is rather generous everywhere on board. So many arguments that make the “good old” S-Max one of the best 7-seater cars capable of meeting the requirements of large families.

His qualities

  • Habitability and modularity
  • Services and road behavior
  • always reasonable consumption
  • Practical aspects

Her downsides

  • Presentation and finishing details
  • old -fashioned ergonomics
  • Purchase penalty
  • Gaboris and robbery

Engines and dimensions

  • Hybrid range: 190 hp, from € 48,150
  • LXLXH (m): 4.80×1,92×1,71
  • Chest at 7/to 5/to 2 (L): 285/630 at 700/2 020

3rd / Peugeot 5008

  • A 7 -seat car pleasant to live … and to drive.

Peugeot’s reputation is well established in the chapter of road services. The 5008 is up to par, so much so that its chassis has not undergone any evolution during restyling.
The driving pleasure is omnipresent and the 5008, with its small steering wheel, remains the most dynamic of its segment. On the other hand, it is an impasse on the rechargeable hybridization of the 3008.
The mechanical range has been simplified: it only consists of petrol and diesel engines which, in each case, only deliver 130, but remain sober.

His qualities

  • Dynamic qualities
  • interior presentation
  • modularity and storage
  • petrol and diesel engines

Her downsides

  • Striking trunk squares
  • Dated multimedia system
  • No hybrid version
  • 130 hp only
  • No real 4×4 transmission

Engines and dimensions

  • Petrol range: 130 hp, from € 38,120
  • Diesel range: 130 hp, from € 43,070
  • LXLXH (m): 4.64×1,84×1,64
  • Chest at 7/to 5/to 2 (L): 210/780/1 940

4th / Kia Sorento

Two rooms, two atmospheres; On the one hand, a rechargeable hybrid sorento (temporarily put on the touch because of the current production constraints) of 265 hp with four -wheel drive. On the other, a “simple” hybrid sorento (which we do not recharge) of 230 hp, with two driving wheels.
The first (10 CV) has the advantage of a real 100 % electric autonomy, with the 91 hp engine, before soliciting its 1 engine.6 liter of 180 hp t-gdi. The second (10 CV) manages its energy flows without asking anything other than a full of fuel. It is available with 5 or 7 places and depending on four finish levels.
This allows him to display a much less discouraging base price of € 48,940 in 7 places, with however a penalty ranging from € 983 to € 1,901. In Phev, the Korean does not suffer from any penalty but begins, in single finish, at € 64,440.
At the wheel, the Sorento Hybrid – which shares its base and its mechanics with the Hyundai Santa Fe – Sober Demeure, with less than 7 l/100 km in town as well as on the road. But on the highway, it spoils, with a good 9 l/100 km on average.

This version also takes advantage of a 67 -liter tank (20 more than the PHEV) to offer good autonomy between two full. The machine, which weighs almost 1,900 kg in hybrid, is comfortable and pleasant to lead, provided that we stick to family driving. Accelerations and recovery are convincing.
On the life side on board, the brightness serves well-being, while the second row files bow and the bench slide. This makes it possible to free up space in the last row, retractable, so that teens settle there. But the place remains too limited to make adults sit for long journeys.
On the luggage sustainment side, the volume of the 7 -seater version ranges between 809 liters (5 on board) and 175 liters when all places are occupied.

His qualities

  • Rolling comfort
  • Rich equipment and presentation
  • 4×4 proposals in phev
  • 7 -year warranty
  • Chest and habitability

Her downsides

  • Imposing template
  • no diesel
  • Chest 7
  • lack of dynamism
  • In addition to PHEV

Engines and dimensions

  • Hybrid range: 230 hp, from € 44,140 (€ 49,090 in 7 places)
  • Rechargeable hybrid range: 265 hp, from € 64,440
  • LXLXH (m): 4.81×1,90×1.70
  • 5/to 7 (l) trunk: 809/175

5th / Hyundai Santa Fe

The Tucson and Santa Fe, the two most imposing representatives of the Hyundai SUV range, have at least one thing in common; They recognize themselves at first glance. Behind its original facies, the largest of the two (4.79 meters long), deeply restyled for 2021, abandoned its Diesel declination.
It only welcomes electrified mechanics, articulated around a 1 engine.6 essence. The rechargeable hybrid version displays 265 hp cumulative, has four -wheel drive and authorizes about 50 kilometers in 100 % electric mode.
For almost 6,000 euros less with identical finish, the “simple” hybrid version (not rechargeable) develops 230 hp and also allows itself, at low speed and on short distances, a few moments in electric mode.
It weighs approximately 200 kg less, however, is content with front -wheel drive and inherits a penalty (from 450 to 1,276 euros). This mechanics consumes just over 8 l/100 km on average according to our tests, but is forgotten and generates good performance, sufficient for a more family -friendly vocation machine.

On board, one could be destabilized by the presence of many pimples on the central console. But the whole remains practical and the Santa Fe takes advantage of very complete equipment.
In terms of habitability, background squares – not very comfortable due to too horizontal seats – remain occasionally usable by adults thanks to the second row bench, which slides on 12 cm. But the trunk is very small in 7 -seater configuration.

His qualities

  • 7 real places
  • Habitability and trunk
  • 5 year warranty, unlimited mileage
  • rich equipment

Her downsides

  • Surprising ergonomics
  • Additional cost in rechargeable hybrid
  • slight direction
  • imposing template
  • no diesel

Engines and dimensions

  • Hybrid range: 230 hp, from € 43,950
  • Rechargeable hybrid range: 265 hp, from € 57,250
  • LXLXH (m): 4.79×1,90×1,71
  • Chest at 7/to 5/to 2 (L): 130/571 to 782/1 649

6th / Toyota Highlander

It is probably the toyota that we are talking about the least, in advertising as in magazines. But the Highlander, SUV in “US format” (4.97 meters long), remains a real family model with serious assets to seduce everyone, parents and children.
It is richly equipped and has many storage, but remains expensive: € 68,600 minimum (+ € 2,726 in penalty). Its second -line bench slide on 18 cm, in two parts, and folds down to release a good access to third place.
There, the roof guard turns out to be limited, but honest for adults of about 1.70 meters, while the leg space may be enough, depending on the position of the front row. The trunk seems gigantic and can still accommodate 268 liters of luggage when all the seats are busy.
At the wheel, the Highlander retains its family vocation; It is comfortable and prefers to be carried out calmly rather than a dynamic look. But its handling is still healthy, despite a substantial weight (2,015 kg).

Under the hood of this hybrid model with four-wheel drive, the association between 4-cylinder petrol 2.5 liters and the two electric motors develops a cumulative power of 248 hp, for very satisfactory performance.
We regret, however, that each acceleration is punctuated by the sound of the heat engine, seconded by transmission by enlighting train: the whole seems to be “grind” and amplifies the sound volume in the cabin.
And on the consumption side, no miracle: the big toyota, produced in the United States, absorbs almost 9 l/100 km on the highway, and flirts with the 8 l/100 km between town and secondary network.

His qualities

  • Presentation and ergonomics
  • Modularity and habitability
  • Chest volume
  • Rolling comfort
  • Luxurious equipment

Her downsides

  • Imposing template
  • Spicy price
  • Acceleration sound
  • Consumption on fast tracks

Engines and dimensions

  • Hybrid range: 248 hp, from € 68,600 (€ 65,600 for professionals)
  • LXLXH (m): 4.97×1,93×1,76
  • Chest at 7/to 5/to 2 (L): 268/658/1 909

7th / Seat Tarraco

Appeared in early 2019, the Tarraco has so far experienced a discreet career, with just over 4,000 units only sold in France since its launch (at the end of 2022).
This 4.74 -meter -long SUV can, for € 910, affect a third row of seats, made up of retractable strapontines in the floor of the trunk. Right in front, in the second row, there is no shortage of space and the bench slides in two parts. Side chest, the capacity reaches 700 liters in 5 -seater configuration.
The Spaniard, assembled in the Volkswagen factory in Wolfsburg, in Germany, has a neat but classic presentation, all in sobriety, with the added bonus of a modern multimedia system. However, the latter is a little complicated to use, despite personalization options.
This SUV is available in three levels of finish (Urban, Xperience, FR) in addition to a business version, reserved for professionals and only offered in diesel. With TDI (beware of the penalty), the mechanical range displays 150 or 200 hp, the most powerful of the two being systematically equipped with four -wheel drive and a DSG robotic transmission.

The machine also exists in rechargeable hybrid, with 245 hp in cumulative power. But this version called E-Hybrid implanted its large battery under the floor floor; She cannot therefore receive third place. Pleasant to drive and peaceful, Tarraco preserves more than honest comfort.

His qualities

  • basic equipment
  • on -board space
  • Hybrid-rechargeable and 4×4 proposal
  • sober presentation
  • driving

Her downsides

  • Only 5 places in hybrid
  • Systematic malus in diesel
  • Space limited to 3rd rank

Engines and dimensions

  • Diesel range: 150 or 200 hp, from € 46,540 (in 7 places)
  • Hybrid-rechargeable range: 245 hp, from € 57,750 (only 5 places)
  • LXLXH (m): 4.74×1,84×1,67
  • Chest at 7/to 5/to 2 (L): 230/700/1 775 (7 -seater version)

8th / Mercedes GLB

Relying on a technical basis shared with class A, launched in 2018, the GLB, produced in Mexico, therefore displays a “simple” traction architecture. This does not prevent it, however, from offering four -wheel drive with some of its engines.
Located in the Mercedes range between the Petit Gla and the most chic GLC, the “B”, extended over 4.63 meters, is distinguished with two additional places in the trunk. This is one of the only “premium” representatives, with the Land Rover Discovery Sport, to offer 7 places.
The space turns out to be very generous in the second row when the sliding bench (on 14 cm) is fell to the maximum, but the central place, not very welcoming, is to be reserved for wise children.
Basically, it spoils, with places that have the merit of existing but that suffer from a lack of space and low seats. Mercedes recommends installing only templates less than 1.68 meters. The trunk, finally, is limited to 130 liters in 7 -seater configuration.
On board, the German makes a good impression, with two screens as a dashboard, for a flattering and refined presentation. The equipment can also be very complete, provided, however, to enhance the budget ..

  • Presentation and finish
  • Habitability in second row
  • Pleasant driving
  • Large mechanical range
  • Modularity

Her downsides

  • Lack of space in 3 row
  • “German” prices
  • EQB autonomy
  • Chest 7
  • Diesel a little sound

Engines and dimensions

  • Petrol range: from 163 to 306 hp, from € 48,599
  • Diesel range: from 150 to 190 hp, from € 49,499
  • Electric range (EQB): 215 kW, from € 59,200
  • LXLXH (m): 4.63×1,83×1,66
  • 5/to 7 (l) trunk: 560/130

9 th / Nissan X-Trail

From a purely technical point of view, the new X-Trail is among the most interesting vehicles on the market. This is a hybrid model, the wheels of which are only trained by electric motors. What is it for its heat engine ? Just recharge the battery !
Driving is felt, with an appreciable sweetness and consumption really contained in urban areas. But it spoils on the fast tracks and on the highway, with more than 8 liters per 100 km on average according to our tests.
Pleasant to drive and sufficiently efficient, the Nissan, manufactured in Japan on a technical basis shared with the Qashqai, must have four -wheel drive when it displays 7 places.
But if the Japanese turns out to be habitable, its bottom squares, with retractable seats in the floor floor, are not very accessible and not spacious enough, despite a second row bench that slides on 21 cm.
They are only used for medium -sized teens (no more than 1.60 m) or in troubleshooting, for rather short journeys. Note also that the machine takes advantage of 40/20/40 fractional files in second row.

The presentation has its effect, with what is necessary of screens and equipment, in addition to a globally flattering quality of finish. Finally, on the price side, the choice to impose all -wheel drive with the optional 7 -seater (+ 900 €) implies a rather high basic price for large families: 45,900 €.

His qualities

  • Pleasant driving
  • Equipment and presentation
  • Habitability
  • Modularity

Her downsides

  • Fast track consumption
  • 3 row space
  • 7 places = 4×4 transmission
  • A single engine proposed

Engines and dimensions

  • Hybrid range (7 seats): 213 hp, from € 45,000
  • LXLXH (m): 4.68×1,84×1,72
  • 5/to 7 chest (L): 485/120

10th / Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace

For the general public, the Tiguan is among the references, among the most sought -after models, especially in the second -hand market. Its Allspace version, the only one to have 7 places, also benefits from this reputation.
The German, a restyled version of which appeared at the end of 2021, has not changed its presentation much which, however, remains flattering and dressed in good materials. On the other hand, since that date, air conditioning knobs have disappeared, for the benefit of sensitive orders less obvious to use, less ergonomic.
Habitability is really generous at the rear, with however an uncomfortable central place and, at the bottom, sixth and seventh places (served in series) to be reserved for children. On the modularity side, these seats obviously climb in the floor of the trunk, in which the curtain curtain is also stored.
Pleasant to drive, the Tiguan Allspace shares its platform with the Seat Tarraco and Skoda Kodiaq (pleasant and which could have appeared in this ranking), but is more expensive than them with an equivalent equivalent motorization.

But this is also where the Volkswagen (assembled in Mexico) suffers, with the absence of a rechargeable hybrid or hybrid version, capable of attracting professional customers. Otherwise, it is satisfied with petrol engines of 150 hp, and diesels of 150 or 200 hp.
They are all confronted with the penalty, and all seconded by a DSG robotic transmission, while the TDI 200 enjoys in addition to a 4×4 transmission, called 4motion.

His qualities

  • Pleasant driving
  • Presentation and reputation
  • Diesel engines in the catalog
  • Habitability and modularity
  • 4×4 proposal

Defaults

  • Rather high prices
  • 3 row space
  • No hybrid version

Engines and dimensions

  • Petrol range: 150 hp, from € 46,850
  • Diesel range: from 150 to 200 hp, from € 49,820
  • LXLXH (m): 4.73×1,84×1,69
  • 5/to 7 (l) trunk: 700/230

They could also have appeared among the recommendable 7 -seater models
