The Renault Captur E-Tech Plug-in is the first rechargeable hybrid model of the diamond brand. Based on the latest generation of Captur, it has been marketed since early 2020.
Design of Captur E-Tech Plug-in
Officially presented at the 2020 Brussels Salon, the rechargeable hybrid captur adopts an identical design to thermal versions. It is distinguished only by several badges affixed to the rear and on the amounts of the doors. Its habitability is not affected by motorization.
Captur e-tech plug-in engine and performance
Based on the CMF-B platform, Captur is the first Renault model to receive e-tech plug-in technology. Developing up to 160 horsepower of power, the system consists of a 4-cylinder 1.6 l petrol engine 91 hp (67 kW) with a particle filter coupled with two electric motors. With a power of 66 hp (49 kW), the first is used to assist the heat engine and can remain active up to 135 km/h while the second, from 31 hp (23 kW), mainly serves to recover from the ‘energy during braking and deceleration phases to partially recharge the battery.
The transmission is ensured by a multimod gearbox with clutch clutch. Among 15 combinations, it automatically selects the best to optimize the propulsion and regeneration of the vehicle. The driver can select several modes such as sport mode, which allows you to benefit from the entire power of the three engines during a strong acceleration. An e-save mode offers the possibility of keeping at least 40% of the battery during a journey to reserve 100% electric driving at certain times chosen, such as crossing a city center. An EV button located on the dashboard allows you to force the operation of the electric motor alone.
According to the manufacturer, the average consumption of the captur e-tech plug-in is 1.5 l/100 km in the mixed cycle WLTP. CO2 emissions amount to 32 g/km.
Battery and autonomy of the Captur e-tech plug-in
Cumulating 9.8 kWh of energy capacity, including 7.5 kWh useful, the Lithium-ion 400 V battery which equips the rechargeable hybrid captur authorizes up to 65 km of autonomy in a single load in urban cycle cycle. The radius of action goes to 50 km in the mixed cycle WLTP.
Located on the right rear wing of the vehicle, the load hatch includes a type 2 connector connected to a 3 kW on -board charger authorizing a full load in approximately 2:30.

The next Renault Captur will be 100 % electric: what should we expect ?
Expected in 2025, the 3rd generation of the Renault Captur will be available in an unprecedented electric version. Discover the first info.
It has been almost three years that the current generation of Renault Captur is available in concessions, while its revelation dates back to summer 2019. A relatively advanced age for the compact SUV, which still seduces customers as much, but which nevertheless remains slightly behind in front of its rival, the Peugeot 2008, which is just at the foot of the podium.
But the diamond firm does not intend to stay in the arms crossed, and intends to catch up. For this, she is already working on the launch of the next generation, which should arrive in the course of 2025. And the least we can say is that it will bring its dose of novelty, since it will be available in an unprecedented 100 % electric version.
A new variant
A first for the compact SUV, which is currently being satisfied with a hybrid and rechargeable hybrid declination of 140 and 160 horsepower, while the 2008 has been offering an electric variant for some time. The two will then be on the same equal footing, as our colleagues from Caradisiac relay, who reveal this information on this new version, already eagerly awaited.
For the moment, the revealed data still remain to be taken with tweezers, while Renault has not yet officially communicated on the subject. In any case, this new version should be based on the CMF-EV platform already equipping the new Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric and allowing the implementation of zero-emission architecture.
Up to 450 kilometers of autonomy
In total, no less than two versions should be proposed, a first developing 130 horsepower, while the second will claim a power of 160 equines. This one, which will therefore head the range will also have a large battery, whose capacity is not yet known, which should allow it to travel up to 450 kilometers in one load.
Produced in the Douai factory, in the North, this new Renault Captur should therefore arrive in concessions during the year 2025. He should also develop his style in depth, drawing inspiration very strongly from the new megane in her lines. The interior should also get a facelift, taking up the presentation of the latter.
