Android TV MyCanal Application on Sony TV
My Sony KD65ZD9 TV incorporates the Android MyCanal application in version 4.3.2.For a long time channel has been slow to pass the image quality of this application in 1080p. I also believe that it is still in 720p while Apple TV is in 1080p and even in UHD.
I would have liked to know if among you there are Canal+ subscribers with the MyCanal application on Sony TV.
Do you have an image in real HD and not of the 720p, the sound too, is’ in Dolby 5.1. I installed this application but as I am not subscribed I have no access to any live channel and the little that I was able to test in replay leaves me skeptical, it is not 1080p, the image is missing dive and sharpness .
Pending an answer, thank you in advance.

While waiting for the answers of the members of our forum who use this application, maybe you could also talk about it with the developers of it, if you have not already done so, to see if they can inform you or help you ?

Talk about it with the developers I want but still should know who to contact ?.It’s like asking for information from the Canal+ service when you are not subscribed, it’s impossible. There is not even the possibility of testing this application by looking at a live channel like Canal+ when this chain diffuses in clear .Just poor quality replay, barely 576p .To test in real, you have to subscribe with all the problems that it then generates when it does not work.I am willing to subscribe and pay but on the condition of having the same quality as on the satellite is 1080p for HD and UHD 4K .Even with the MyCanal application praised by Canal+, all subscribers are not housed in the same brand .Some those who have appletv have already benefited from 4K and 1080p for a long time, with Android it is planned and constantly questioned.
I will not talk about the satellite of which Canal obliges the rental of a owner decoder incapable of managing the Disseqc switching on a multi-satellite installation like mine.
At least with Fransat it is simpler it only takes a free decoder with a location CI+ and the Fransat module allows you to receive several options with the rights on the same card .
But canal has always been more complicated and under unproven pretexts (the so -called hacking of those who use high -end receptors like 4K duo seen+ and others) it imposes a forced rental and a deposit for a low decoder range.
Given the little answer I am not surprised, I do not know why I mentioned this problem here since channel has agreements with Apple TV is the reason why Canal has been dragging for 2 years the arrival 1080p for HD and UHD, and yes all subscribers are not treated in the same way at Canal+.Anyway, I abandon the use of this application, I uninstalled it because it is an application that needs a good speed and it’s been 12 years that Orange promises us VDSL2 in my countryside And it has still not arrived, a ***** flow that varies constantly depending on the number of connected, therefore pixelated images especially the evenings of big matches, when the fiber can be in 2050 if all is fine. I therefore leave the connected TV which has no interest in French who resides in deep France, that which is ignored by politicians .
So you can continue not to answer I have the use more.

Regarding the 4K on the MyCanal TV app for Sony TV on Android TV, I had a discussion by email with a Plus Canal Advisors Service which takes more particularly Android TV (their email address is [email protected]). Here is their latest email:
“We confirm that some TVs are compatible, but in limited number.
With regard to the reference that you have transmitted to us, we may lack precise information: if it is a bravia 4K ur1 or a bravia 4K ur2 ?
If you do not see this reference, then your TV will not be compatible.
A priori my Sony 4K TV (a 55AG8) is neither Bravia ur1 nor a bravia ur2 and on the net I can hardly find the slightest info on these two references. So I finally contacted Sony’s technical service to find out more, and their response is quite incredible:
I follow your request regarding if your TV model is UR1 or UR2.
After verification, I regret to inform you that Sony does not share this information so there is no relationship between the use of the application with the TV model
Please accept, the expression of our distinguished feelings.
Yousra
Sony support team “
The 4K on the mycanal apps of SONY TV is therefore virtually nonexistent despite the announcements of a few months ago which made him shimmer. Will probably have to wait for a long time.

I am really not surprised by this kind of answer, whether of Canal+ or Sony.Anyway, it is certain that Canal because of its agreements with Apple TV does nothing to accelerate things with Android TV .At Canal + there have always been several categories of subscribers, those who have an Apple TV or the others that are content with Android TV System which works very well in 1080p with Molotov, and the RMC Sports application, even in UHD With me when there are not too many people connected because I have only 20mb of flow, yes still adsl in my town no evolution for 12 years .But whatever, I uninstalled anyway the MyCanal Android because 720p and even less in replay too little for me on a 4K TV which is worth 3500 €.Anyway with my flow most often it will be pixel porridge .So I stay on the Fransat satellite and the others but I avoid Canal+ which even by satellite forces us to rent its decoder stew, while I have a view+ 4k duo and a technist isiostc, therefore high -end receptors that make it possible to legally decipher Fransat and certain options to which I am a subscriber and Tivusat on Hotbird, as well as all that is clear on Astra 19.2 and astra 28.2 So freesat .
Canal I put him aside 4 years ago and as long as he will have this policy I am not about to return.
Addition of 16 10 2019. Still nothing with the MyCanal Android application . For two years now, Canal has been noted with subscribers who wish to receive its channels by the Android TV application. All this of course because of the agreements he has made with Apple TV which seems to be 1080p and UHD hard .Because there is no other explanation for this so -called delay. Molotov TV, RMC Sports and its application as well as OCS Cinéma which all three broadcast in OTT are also faced with rights problems and yet OCS broadcasts in 1080p with its application just like RMC Sports which also broadcasts in 1080p and UHD with also its application. And Molotov TV which takes over the channels of OCS and cinema premiere also broadcasts in 1080p .Which confirms that Canal + takes us for C. .It is not today, but this is another story.

@Jacques6153: How do you see that it is 720p on the MyCanal app ? The info key of my TV does not work on most TV apps (except Netflix).
Personally I find that the image of HD programs broadcast on MyCanal is often of good quality, sometimes better than on my 4K SFR box.

Unfortunately there is no possibility of seeing or adjusting the definition of the image on the MyCanal application under Android unlike the RMC Sports of SFR application. On my Sony KD65ZD9 TV I installed the RMC Sports application because I subscribed by Fransat and therefore I also have the right to install this application. This allowed me to make comparisons between the reception of RMC Sports channels by the satellite and through the application with a flow just sufficient I am still in my campaign in ADSL2 is barely 19 Mb while Orange promises us VDSL2 for 12 years so a real fucking of G. from this operator. But with the RMC Sports application outside of peak hours where there are Image Foges in UHD I can compare the quality of the HD and UHD image of RMC Sports and there is no photo if I compare with that of the MyCanal application, less dive, sharpness .With the RMC Sports application there is the possibility of adjusting the image over 1080p and 2160p .This is what convinced me not to subscribe to Canal+.I did tests without subscription with any visible video so -called in HD by all available in the MyCanal application and I was disappointed .It is certain that in my house with a flow too fair I cannot make it a daily life, the flow drop too much when I look at the RMC sports channel in UHD but I have the satellite to overcome this, RMC Sports is also on Fransat .As for Canal+ I can have it out of satellites because I have a multi satellite parable and I receive astra 19.2 nd but at Canal+ we have no choice it is imperative to rent their restrained decoder and file a deposit and then engage for 1 or 2 years in order to have an affordable price .I for years I have been making multi satellite reception with free receptors of the kind seen+ 4K duo of new technologies not within everyone’s reach for the implementation but without constraint on the part of operators .Receiving Fransat or Tivusat in conditions of normal subscribers It is easy to acquire modules in accordance with their encryption of inserting them in situations CI+ and then introduce the subscribers cards on which the rights are registered And then the world of European satellite TV is ours, I go from Freesat 28.2nd to Fransat 5 ° O by crossing before Hotbird 13 ° E and Astra 19.2nd and there is no photo with regard to the HD and UHD quality of images, this is the only solution for me to enjoy the high -end equipment that I buy .Because the orange baratin I believe in it anymore and the fiber in my village of 500 hours even less .Here no evolution for 12 years .I did different tests with my Sony TV connected to know what I’m talking about, but all that is not for the Pecno campaigns like me, look at TV applications with variations in sharpness of image, Spinning sometimes and even blockages I say no, I leave that to those who have fiber and still I am not convinced that certain evenings where there are for example important L1 matches broadcast on Canal+ for example there is not cuts, freezing and pixel porridge .If Canal+ was less *.. And let people subscribe with the reception equipment of their choice by imposing only the module to insert the subscriber card can be changed I will opinion but it’s not tomorrow the day before so I will never be part of the Canal subscribers+.
For info canal knows how to broadcast in 1080p and UHD but it slows down the upgrade on Android TV due to the agreements it took with Apple TV.
To conclude, we currently find connected televisions already for some with installed applications .Since it seems’ it is the television of tomorrow. I would like to believe it but today given the significant differences in internet debit, many cannot hope to take full advantage of technological advances, the Dolby Atmos sound and the 4K, for that it takes fiber and this fiber whose operators would like to make believe that now or soon all the French will have it .Well again the reality is very different and believing in their improvements by subscribing to subscriptions with a ridiculous flow is initially damn money in the trash and the big disappointment when on a 4K screen of 65 ” We can just see an SD image so without stuck or sharpness and that of course when it does not pixeize .Because this fiber which we are damaged all day long that it is soon, let me tell you me who is still waiting for the arrival of VDSL2 in my village, VDSL2 yet promised by orange ten years ago now, I smile hearing this. And yes Netflix, Amazon Premium, MyCanal in 1080p and UHD 2160 is not for me, especially in the evening during rush hour with unstable adsl whose flow varies from single to double to sometimes collapse when the ping Go from 20 to 466 for example .But the operators in this case are absent subscribers .
All this to simply make the Guignol understand which directs the arcep and which clarifies that TNT and satellite are no longer useful since according to him all the French are fibrated, he would do well to get out of his fiber pigeonnier in the center from Paris and come to campaign the real situation in the campaign .
